What to do:
This support sheets helps students structure an answer that is well balanced. It was created to tackle exam command words such as 'to what extent', 'assess', and 'evaluate'. Simply write the exam question in the box at the top (or leave it blank for students to write) and ask them to list points in each of the 'hands'. This can either be on each finger (so 5 points per hand) or around the hand (see the template with lines on). Following this, students write their full answer in a paragraph with great confidence and a clear structure.
Variations:
Easily adapted for sociology and history to support their longer marked questions and support those with low literacy to structure their work.
