What to do:
I picked up this activity in a Year 8 English lesson. (Thank you to the my English Dept. again!)
Whilst looking at Narrative, focusing on the genre of romance, students were asked to complete a 'conflict graph' after watching a short video clip. (See here.) They were then asked to fill in the highs and the lows in the clip.
This way of mapping key elements of a clip, sound or text could be useful when structuring writing. Or when providing writing prompts, giving them in a 'visual' way could help students determine where their focus should be? Think of a Bar graph?
Variations:
Add 'Love hearts' like a heart rate monitor, to represent moments of tension...
